I-94/M-39 interchange project begins

Work includes repairing 12 bridges and ramps within the I-94/M-39 interchange

WAYNE COUNTY, Mich.The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) announced that a $13.8 million investment to improve the I-94/M-39 interchange will begin Monday in the cities of Allen Park and Taylor.

Work includes repairing 12 bridges within the interchange, as well as the ramps and pavement on I-94 between Pelham Road and M-39. All work on this project is expected to be completed in November.

The following ramps will be closed beginning 4 a.m. Monday until May: westbound I-94 to southbound M-39, and westbound I-94 to Pelham Road.

The following ramps will be closed beginning 4 a.m. Monday until early April: southbound M-39 to eastbound and westbound I-94, and eastbound Van Born Road to southbound M-39.

In addition, the eastbound I-94 ramp to northbound M-39 and the northbound M-39 ramp to Van Born Road will be closed overnights from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning. Overnight double-lane closures on northbound M-39 from Allen Road to Outer Drive will occur until early April.
