Family seeks help in search for Detroit father's killer

Crime Stoppers offers reward for information leading to arrest in DaJuan Thomas' death

DETROIT – A Detroit father of five was killed one month ago, and now his family is appealing to the public to help find his killer.

DaJuan Thomas had just walked out of a party store on West McNichols Road at West Outer Drive on the evening of April 9 when someone walked up to him and shot him dead.

The 38-year-old Thomas was a father of three boys and two girls. He was a working man who had just finished a day of work with his step-father in their home improvement business.

Alphonso Sims feels the loss deeply and he called on the community to help the family in their search for DaJuan's killer.

"April 9th when we left work he walked out the door and said hey dad I'll see you tomorrow but tomorrow never came. I got a call about 45 minutes later telling me my son is dead. Come on everybody, speak up, just speak up you're not a snitch, just speak up and say what you know," Sims said.

Crime Stoppers of Michigan is offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to an arrest in the case.
