Carleton Ashford, Leroy Newson accused of targeting Abbott's Coins
No description foundBIRMINGHAM, Mich. – Two men are behind bars on charges they robbed Abbott's Coin in Birmingham.
Police said 21-year-old Carleton Lamar Ashford of Hamtramck and 22-year-old Leroy Terrell Newson of Detroit were arraigned Wednesday morning.
Both men face a five-year felony.
Store plagued by break-ins
No description foundA brick was thrown through the window of the store just before 4 a.m. on Monday, triggering an alarm, police said.
Police said Ashford and Newson were arrested at the scene and officers chased a third person into the area of Normandy and Woodward in Royal Oak, but they got away.
Abbott's was broken into April 3 and $40,000 in silver pieces and jewelry were taken.
Police said there was also an another attempted break-in on May 31.
They have not said if the two suspects in custody are being linked to the other two crimes.
