DETROIT – A 1-year-old girl from Detroit who disappeared was found dead inside the house where she lived.
According to police, a cadaver dog found little Zyia Turner's body inside her grandmother's house.
Sources tell Local 4 the 1-year-old was found hidden under a pile of clothes in a closet at the house in the 18000 block of Brinker on Detroit's east side.
Family members said they searched the house before they called police. But it's unclear how Zyia died or who was at the house when she disappeared.
"I think its overwhelming because you think of your own kids or grandkids," said neighbor Juanita Shaw.
The 1-year-old disappeared on Friday while she was being cared for by family members. Her mother was having some type of procedure done at a hospital.
Sources tell Local 4 nearly 20 people live at the house.
The investigation continues.
