Police: Jewelry store owner beaten by robber in Redford Township

Police say store surveillance video shows man jump counter to beat store owner, steal jewelry

REDFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Video from a Redford Township jewelry store in the 9000 block of Telegraph Road shows a man who, police say, beat the store owner, broke the glass display case and stole jewelry.

Police say the man in a blue sweatshirt jumped the counter and beat the 53-year-old owner of Fantasy Jewelers and stole items from the store before fleeing on foot.

The video shows the man enter the store and speak with the owner for awhile before he decided to jump the counter and attack. The store owner later stumbles into frame after the man fled the store.

The store owner is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Anyone with information on the robbery or with information on the man in the video is asked to contact Redford Township police.
