ROSWELL, GA. – A Georgia woman is making it easier for other ladies to protect themselves out on the street.
Leslie Deets co-owns sharp-shooters shooting range in Roswell, Georgia. She is also the designer behind a handgun handbag called Concealed Carrie.

Deets says the fastest growing segment of new gun owners are women.
"15 to 20 percent a year. That's a huge number," said Deets. "The women were coming in with either guns dropped in their bags and flopping around loosely which is un-secure."
A loose gun in a purse isn't safe, and it wasn't working. With no easy way to carry their licensed, concealed weapons, women were leaving them behind.
That's where Concealed Carrie comes in.
The purses each have a separate pocket to Velcro in a gun. The zip side allows you to keep one hand on the gun, or even shoot through the purse.
"More and more women want to protect themselves and they're not willing to compromise fashion for function, said Deets. "She's (Carrie) loosely based on me and I'd say loosely."
Concealed Carrie has sold hundreds of high-end fashionable purses, each selling between $200 and $300.
"We're having to restock just as quickly as we can because we've just completely sold out," said Deets.
She just got word this week that outdoor sporting goods store Cabela's will soon carry her line. Deets says this is proof, like her pink gun, pink target and modern style shooting range, that women are carrying more influence in the gun world.
