DETROIT – Car pooling can save users $3,000 annually according to a new study by the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments known as SEMCOG.

Data from the SEMCOG study found that the MiRideshare car pool program saved one million miles of travel in March 2013.

The study found that fuel savings and reduced congestion on the roads throughout the month was equivalent to annual carbon dioxide emissions from 90 vehicles or more than 1,000 barrels of oil.
