MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. – 
"It's one of those crimes you never think is never going to happen to you," said a Macomb County mom, who was almost the victim of a purse snatcher Tuesday.
The mom, who didn't want to be identified, was shopping with her 5-year-old daughter around 3 p.m.
The pair were at the Target on 23 Mile Road and Gratiot in Chesterfield Township.
During their shopping trip, this mom noticed someone was following her around.
"She was just in every aisle I was," the mom said. "She was wearing long sleeves, a flannel shirt, it was baggy and I don't know, it just hit me the wrong way."
But with her daughter in the cart and getting ready to check out, she ignored her instinct and grabbed one last item off the store shelf, but that's when someone grabbed something of hers.
"I spotted Clorox wipes that I needed and when I went to put them in the cart my daughter said, 'Mommy, some lady took your purse.'"
When she looked at her cart, her purse was gone.
"I couldn't believe it, I was in a state of shock," said the victim. "Everything just happened so fast I started running and screaming, 'There's a thief, there's a thief,' but everyone just looked at me like I was a mad woman."
She ran down the aisle her daughter saw the purse snatcher go down, that's when she confronted the woman in the flannel shirt.
"I told her, you stole my purse, you stole my purse," said the victim. The woman told her she found the purse after someone else took it and then dropped it.
The victim says her black and white purse was sitting on a store shelf next to the woman. When the mom bent down to grab it, the woman in the flannel shirt was gone.
"I am still not even sure if that's the woman who did grab it," the victim said. "It was a gut feeling."
Chesterfield police are working with Target to see if the purse snatching was caught on surveillance. At this point, no arrests have been made.
"I'm just happy I am safe, my daughter is safe and I have my things. I don't want this to happen to someone else," she said.
