Steve Garagiola

DETROIT – So… what do you want to know? I was born in St. Louis, grew up in New York, but have lived in Metro Detroit most of my life. My dad is Joe Garagiola who you may remember as a fixture on NBC for many years (Today Show and Baseball Game of the Week). My mom is not so well known, but did play the organ at Busch Stadium for the Cardinals, which is kind of cool.

I've worked at Local4 since 1995. I started in sports, and covered the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta. When the bomb went off in Centennial Park, I became a news reporter, and made the official switch to news when we got back home.

I love to write and cook. I have an ebook available on writing and my life in TV news. It's been quite a ride. I also have a novel and a screenplay both shuffling around cyber space looking for a home. And I'm working on a cookbook that will come out in the fall. I'll keep you posted.

I love the piano and guitar. I play both well enough to entertain myself, but would not make anyone else endure that. But I'll keep practicing.
