Your kids might not have an extended school year because of all of the closings.
Governor Snyder has signed a law that will allow school districts to extend existing days rather than schedule makeup days.
Michigan law requires districts to provide 170 days and about 1,100 hours to qualify for funding.
Districts can cancel up to six school days a year because of bad weather, power outages and other problems.
The new law allows administrators to lengthen existing days.
School districts that take advantage of the law will have to file a report with the Michigan Department of Education.
