Police: Man goes on weekend crime spree, attacks woman, attempts to steal TV

Angelo Lamar Taylor is parole absconder, was wanted on outstanding warrant

ROYAL OAK, Mich. – Royal Oak police said a parole absconder with an extensive criminal past now stands accused of two weekend attacks that included pinning a woman to the ground and kicking in a door to steal a television.

Police said the first incident happened at 3 a.m. Saturday when the suspect grabbed a woman from behind as she walked up to her door on North Blair Street.

Police said the suspect held the woman down until her fiancé opened the door and saw what was happening.

The fiancé tackled the suspect to the ground, but the suspect was able to break free and fled in a white Cadillac, police said.

A large kitchen knife that was dropped by the suspect was found at the scene, police said.

Royal Oak said they sent out a suspect description to nearby cities, and, just 20 minutes later, Southfield police responded to a home invasion call in on Brentwood Street where the intruder matched the description.

Police said the suspect had kicked in a door and was trying to steal a television.

The suspect got away in the same white Cadillac, but was eventually stopped by Oak Park police.

The suspect, identified as 45-year-old Angelo Lamar Taylor, of Clinton Township, was arrested on charges of first-degree home invasion and receiving an concealing stolen property.

Police said the white Cadiallc he was driving had been stolen Friday from Detroit.

Police said Taylor was also wanted on an outstanding warrant for motor vehicle theft.

The Oak Park and Southfield police departments are also pursuing charges against Taylor.

Taylor has an extensive criminal history which includes stolen vehicles, drug crimes, home invasion, armed robbery and escaping from prison.
