DETROIT – Detroit police say a pickup truck struck a 9-year-old boy Wednesday afternoon on Morang Drive, prompting a fight afterwards.
The boy had walked out into the street where the truck hit him, police say. The driver parked the truck and got out to check on the child's well being. However, the driver was met by about 10 men and boys who attacked him in the street.
Police say the group kicked and punched the man, sending him to a nearby hospital with several injuries.
The boy also was taken to a hospital. He suffered a broken leg.
Police are combing the neighborhood in search of the men responsible for the driver's beating.
