Former University of Michigan football star Taylor Lewan to be arraigned in assault case

Lewan charged with 3 assault counts stemming from confrontation with Ohio State fans

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Tennessee Titans' first-round draft pick Taylor Lewan faces a court hearing in a Michigan assault case.

The former Michigan offensive tackle is to be arraigned Monday in Ann Arbor District Court. Lewan is charged with three assault counts stemming from a confrontation with two Ohio State fans after the Buckeyes beat the Wolverines last fall.

Lewan was asked about the Dec. 1 incident during a news conference at the NFL's scouting combine. He said he "wasn't in any fight" and "was actually breaking something up."

Defense attorney John Shea says his client's "position is well-known from earlier comments."

The 22-year-old is charged with one count of aggravated assault and two counts of assault and battery.

The Titans selected Lewan with the 11th overall pick.
