DETROIT – Although the city of Detroit went through a historic bankruptcy in 2014, there was still plenty to celebrate. From community events and celebrity visits, to new businesses and restaurants opening up. Detroit is growing -- and in 2014 we saw the results up close.

In 2014, art took over the cityscape. From the Z Parking Garage, which features art from the best known street artists in the world, to the Belt, art is no longer for a gallery in Detroit; it's for anyone who wants to see it.
In 2014, Detroit was open for business. New store openings, and restaurant openings brought crowds of people to downtown Detroit. HopCat, Punch Bowl Social, Wright & Company, Selden Standard and Johnny Noodle King, just to name a few. The addition of retail stores like John Varvatos, City Loft and Hot Sams gave the city a much needed style tune-up.
In 2014, from the depths of bankruptcy, Detroit came alive.
