Throwback Thursday: Dwayne X. Riley's 1983 tour of WDIV

DETROIT – We found this video of the late, great Dwayne X. Riley narrating a tour of WDIV's offices and thought it was the perfect bit of #throwbackthursday nostalgia.

The year was 1983. Jim Blanchard was governor. The AMC Alliance -- seriously AMC? -- was Motor Trend's Car of the Year. NBC's Tuesday night line-up taught us that if you had a problem, and no one else can help, maybe you should call "The A Team." And your Go 4 It crew had taken residence in a new building.

In addition to Riley, who passed away last December at the age of 84, the video features cameos from Mort Crim, Mal Sillers, and Dick Purtan, among others.

Save for flat-screens replacing old-style tube TVs and computers replacing typewriters, not that much has changed here at the home office in the last 31 years -- well, people were more into coats and ties back then.

And ashtrays. There seemed to be a lot of ashtrays around back in '83.

It was a different time.
