Arrest made in stabbing death of missing woman

Cynthia Worthy disappeared after going to meet a man she met online

DETROIT – Detroit police are being very tight-lipped about the man who is in custody in connection with the stabbing death of a woman whose body was found dumped on the city's east side.

Police Chief James Craig on Friday said he didn't want to go into the details until after charges were filed. A source said the suspect is in his mid-20s and was arrested in Oak Pak. He also is on parole.

Cynthia Worthy's body was found Monday in an alley off Davison. She had been stabbed multiple times in the chest.

The 23-year-old was reported missing days before her body was found after she failed to come home from a date with a man she met on Backpage.com.

Police have not said whether the man in custody is the same man Worthy went to meet.
