Police find human remains inside home during missing persons search on Detroit’s east side

DETROIT – Police said they’ve found human remains inside a home during their missing persons search on Detroit’s east side.

The incident occurred on Wednesday (May 13) while following up on a tip related to their ongoing missing-persons search.

In a statement, Detroit police Media Director Jasmin Barmore said investigators received information from a community member about an individual who may be missing.

While pursuing that lead on Tuesday with assistance from local, state, and federal partners, officers discovered the remains inside the residence.

Police said the person found was not connected to the active missing persons investigation that prompted the search operation.

“At this time, the individual located was not connected to the current missing persons operation, and the investigation surrounding the deceased remains ongoing,” said Barmore.
