Dearborn police to release details in break-in, attempted strangulation case

DEARBORN, Mich. – Dearborn police will hold a press conference Tuesday to release more details in the case of a violent break-in where a man tried to strangle a woman in her bed.

Terrance Eugene Simmons, 22, of Detroit, is charged with breaking into the woman's home on Appoline Street during the early morning hours of Aug. 27.

Police said the woman woke to find the man on top of her and trying to strangle her. Simmons fled the house and was arrested a day later at a relative's home, police said.

He is charged with home invasion assault by strangulation. His next court date is Sept. 11.
