Suspect is parole absconder

DETROIT – Detroit police released a mugshot of a man who attempted a carjacking on Detroit's east side.

Roosevelt Evans, 45, is wanted by police in connection to the carjacking attempt on Sept. 22.

Police said a 42-year-old man was putting air in his tires at a BP gas station at East Outer Drive and Harper Avenue when the carjacker jumped into the car and drove away.

The man fired shots at the car and it crashed into a nearby pole.

The carjacker then got out and confronted the man with a crowbar before fleeing the scene.

Evans is an absconder from parole and matched his mugshot from the surveillance video at the gas station.
