Man pleads guilty to OWI causing death in Sterling Heights crash

STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. – Nathan Heinz, the young man charged in the deadly DUI crash that killed a 44-year-old Shelby Township man, pleaded guilty to one count of operating under the influence causing death Monday.

Police said that Heinz, of Richmond, was drunk when he drove his GMC Yukon over Charles Webber, who was riding a Harley Davidson and was stopped at a light on Mound Road in Sterling Heights in July.

Webber was dragged under the SUV and run over.

According to police, Heinze returned to the scene of the crash after a few minutes.

Heinz is scheduled to be sentenced Dec. 22 at 8 a.m.
