Detroit police release images of masked person shown using missing woman's ATM card

Detroit police investigating whether body is that of missing woman

DETROIT – The body of a young woman was found late Monday afternoon on Detroit's west side.

Police have not confirmed if it is Kajavia Globe, who has been missing since Friday, but they did release a photo of a suspect wanted in her disappearance.

The images are of of a suspect shown on surveillance video using Globe's ATM card at a bank that's not far from where the unidentified woman's body was found.

Family members of 24-year-old Globe arrived at the scene near 7 Mile and Evergreen road crying and fearing the worst.

A neighbor found the woman's body in the backyard of a home in the 18000 block of Fielding. Police can't confirm, but they feel confident, it is the body of Globe. She's been missing since Friday.

"From what I understand this young lady was really going places. A bright young lady, attractive, just got promoted. Somebody had a problem with her. I don't know what it is. There are a couple people that we're interested in and I'll just leave it at that," said Assistant Police Chief Steve Dolunt.

The suspect shown wearing a mask was using Globe's ATM card late Friday at 7 Mile and Telegraph roads.

Globe's car was found abandoned early Monday morning. Police say evidence found in her car shows a crime was committed, but they would not elaborate. They are choosing to concentrate on the suspect.

"It's a mask of a skeleton and it's very unique, so we're hoping that the public can identify or knows someone who has that mask," said Dolunt. "This is a heinous crime and we want to get this suspect in custody."

Anyone with information on this missing person case is asked to call Deroit Police Department's 8th Precinct at 313-596-5840.
