Video captures gunman who fatally shot 16-year-old in Detroit

DETROIT – A surveillance camera outside an apartment building in Detroit captured the final moments of a 16-year-old boy’s life Wednesday night before he was shot to death.

Family members told Local 4 Jesse Boswell lived with his grandmother at the Clinton House apartments on Kenilworth Street.

The video shows him enter an apartment building just after 11:30 p.m.

“The last thing he said to his grandmother was, ‘I just wanted to see if you were ok,” said Boswell’s aunt, who asked not to be identified. “He has a big heart and loves his family, He would do anything for his family.”

When Boswell comes out of the building a few minutes later, the video shows someone run up, point a gun at Boswell and then run away.

Police said Boswell was shot multiple times.

“Jesse is my sister’s only child, her only son. She’s devastated. It’s unbelievable,” Boswell’s aunt said. “None of us are perfect, but this was not justified.”

Police have not released a description of the shooter.
