Tracking flakes and flurries on Friday

Highs in the upper 20s

DETROIT – Clouds and cool air trapped near the surface producing flakes and flurries Friday. Morning temps are cool, but not as cold being in the upper teens to mid 20s and won’t budge unless or until some sun breaks through. It doesn’t look like that’s very likely so expect mostly cloudy skies and cool breezes NE 5-12 mph.

Those winds from the big lakes north and east keep wind chills in the teens today and bring lake effect flakes to the Thumb and east side of Metro Detroit. But we will all see light snow and flurries coming and going without much more than a dusting.

A mild Saturday with temps either in the upper 20s to low 30s. Again, this all depends on the sun. We will likely see clouds and flurries in the morning and if we bust through the clouds, temps will warm a little bit. The wind will not be real strong N 5-12 mph but it will make it feel cooler all day.

We are in for a nice Sunday near freezing or warmer with lighter winds.

The weather gets much more active next week with snow chances Tuesday, Thursday/Friday, and next weekend. Before you head out, get the FREE Local4Casters Weather and Storm Pins apps free in your app store under WDIV.
