2 charged in fight over pot of chili

Victim was stabbed in leg

DETROIT – Two people are facing charges for a fight that broke out over a pot of chili in a home on Detroit's west side.

Police said Jacob Rogers, 26, got upset over the way a family acquaintance was stirring the chili in the kitchen of a home on St. Marys Street, and starting assaulting him. Rogers is also accused of trying to take the victim's wallet.

The victim was beaten and stabbed, but is expected to recover, police said.

Rogers is charged with unarmed robbery, assault with intent to do great bodily harm, felonious assault, aggravated assault, and assault and battery. Kimberly Richardson, 36, is also facing the same charges for allegedly kicking the victim in the groin.
