Plans for new Detroit Red Wings arena district expand

Olympia unveils updated master plan for 'District Detroit'

DETROIT – Olympia Development wants you to see more than just a new Detroit Red Wings Arena.

The company is giving us an inside look at what "District Detroit" is supposed to be like once construction is complete.

Olympia just released the updated master plan which shows a hotel with between 300 and 450 rooms will be built. It also shows space for 150 different residential units and 200,000 square feet worth of office space for retail and restaurants. That's about 3 and 1/2 football fields worth of space.

The arena itself is on track to open in September 2017. With construction well underway, interest is growing exponentially.
