1 dead, 1 hurt in shooting near apartment complex in Inkster

Scene is near Inkster Road, Annapolis Street

INSKTER, Mich. – A father of four was shot and killed Wednesday morning in Inkster, according to his family members.

Michigan State Police Lt. Mike Shaw said people in two separate cars were shooting at each other around 7 a.m. near Inkster Road and Annapolis Street.

“There were two vehicles that were involved in some type of incident with each other. There were shots exchanged between the two parties," Shaw said.

Two people in a green car were struck - one was killed and the other tried to run after the car crashed into a home, Shaw said.

Family members identified the deceased victim to Local 4 as 29-year-old Alfred Wayne Austin. They said he has four children.

“He took care of his family. He tried to stay out of the way of these crazy streets. Unfortunately, the streets, obviously, got the best of him,” said a cousin, Nikki.

Police said the shooting is not random. They are looking for either a black Pontiac Bonneville or Chevy Impala in connection with the shooting. Anyone with information can call 800-MICH-TIP.
