Ann Marie Gorup's body was found Sept. 21 when officers went to her home on 5 Mile Road for a welfare check.

Officer Paul Lawrence testified that when he and another officer went into the apartment, there was a "heavy smell of bleach" and several squirt bottles around.

Lawrence said he found what appeared to be a finger at the foot of a bed.

"I said, 'Well, let's find her. She's here somewhere,'" Lawrence testified.

He said he and the other officer searched the apartment until they came to a storage area.

"When we opened the door, we found the victim," Lawrence said. "She was wrapped in what appeared to be comforter, and wrapped in duct tape from head to about waist."

Lawrence said she was missing both of her legs.

An autopsy report states Gorup, 46, died from strangulation and blunt force trauma.

A video of Williams being held in the back of a patrol car was played in court. In the video, Williams can he heard saying, “They caught me that fast. I should have never walked into the (expletive) house.”

Family members told Local 4 that Williams and Gorup had dated on and off for years.
