Man accused of drunken driving with 2-year-old in back seat

MILFORD, Mich. – A business owner tried to bribe his way out of a drunken driving arrest with his 2-year-old daughter in the back seat, according to police reports.

Not only did Brad Trombley, 35, allegedly try to bribe police, he admitted he was probably over the blood alcohol limit. Trombley was pulled over on Wixom Trail near Burns Road in Milford, police reported.

According to a police report, Trombley had been arrested on two other occasions for OWI in Southgate. This time, not only is he facing OWI charges but also open container and child endangerment.

Officers are seen following Trombley's Ford F-150 as he brushed against a curb and crossed over a white line. That's when officers pulled him over.

The officer told Trombley he smelled alcohol. Dash cam video showed Trombley having a hard time with a field sobriety test. When asked to walk and turn, Trombley frequently lost his balance.

When it finally becomes evident to Trombley that he was in trouble, he turned to bribery.

"I'm a business owner in Wixom, Michigan, and I'm asking for some leniency here," Trombley said. "If there's anything I can do money-wise."

"There's nothing we can do about that now," an officer said.

After refusing a Breathalyzer, Trombley was placed under arrest. That's when officers heard the 2-year-old child.

"We'll get the child home safely. Don't worry about it," an officer said.

The girl was OK and was turned over to her mother at the scene. Officers sent a report to the Michigan Department of Human Services.
