Alligator found in backyard of home on Detroit's west side
Animal Control removes 2-foot animal from Strathmoor Street yard
DETROIT – Animal Control was called Wednesday to remove a two-foot alligator from the backyard of a home in Detroit.
The alligator was found on Strathmoor Street, near Interstate 96 and Hubbell Avenue.
Police didn't immediately release where the alligator came from but believe it was a pet in the area.
Alligators are considered dangerous animals and are illegal to possess.
"I don't deal with alligators," T.J. Boyd said. "My grandad discovered it. He screamed loudly like a banshee and he ran in like Jesse Owens."
