Pug mauled to death in Birmingham

BIRMINGHAM, Mich. – A 13-year-old Pug named Maddie was mauled to death by two dogs last week in Birmingham.

Maddie was on a walk with her owner when two larger dogs were able to get their heads through a fence and attack her. Both dogs are Dalmatian-boxer mixes.

Residents are circulating a petition for the city to change its rules when it comes to dog bites and attacks.

Neighbors said the dogs are responsible for an attack on a different dog last month.

“What I really want them to do is take a look at dogs when they are reported as vicious or if there has been any type of dog incident in the city and have them investigate the dog and the dog owners,” Terry Holmes said.

The owner was ticketed for possessing a vicious dog and has since turned them over to a shelter.
