4Warn Weather – Showers and thunderstorms will move through Metro Detroit to start the weekend, but the threat for severe weather is expected to remain mainly west of Southeast Michigan.
Before the rain moves in, areas of patchy fog may redevelop in Metro Detroit Friday night.
The thunderstorms will approach from the west after 2 a.m. Heavy rain and winds up to 40 mph will be possible, but atmospheric conditions are less favorable for intense storms.
Saturday
Scattered rain showers and storms are likely throughout much of Saturday, especially in the morning and midday.
While a few thunderstorms could produce brief downpours and gusty winds, widespread severe weather is not expected in Metro Detroit.
Temperatures will climb into the mid-60s before cooler air begins to move in later in the day, with winds shifting and increasing.
By Saturday night, conditions begin to dry out, but it will turn noticeably cooler and breezy, with lows falling into the 30s.
Sunday
Sunday brings a mix of sun and clouds with a much cooler feel. High temperatures will be in the 40s, struggling to reach 50 degrees.
A stray shower cannot be ruled out during the afternoon. Gusty winds will continue to add to the chill.
The cooler air will have a direct impact on outdoor plans, including the walk to and from Little Caesars Arena for the Pistons’ first 2026 playoff game on Sunday.
Temperatures around tip-off will be in the lower to mid-40s with breezy conditions, making it feel even chillier for those heading downtown.
The most significant change arrives Sunday night into early Monday, when temperatures are expected to drop into the upper 20s to near 30 degrees.
This raises concerns for frost and freeze across Metro Detroit, which could impact early-season plants and sensitive vegetation.
Workweek
Conditions improve to start the workweek, with sunshine returning Monday but temperatures remaining below average, with highs in the upper 40s to 50 degrees.
A warming trend follows, with highs climbing back into the upper 60s to 70 degrees by Tuesday and Wednesday and into the mid to upper 70s by the end of the week.
