Masked men shoot into group of teens in Pontiac, killing 1

PONTIAC, Mich. – A 19-year-old woman was killed and three other seriously injured after a drive-by on the 70th block of Thorpe Street in Pontiac, police say.

Authorities say the four victims, three teenagers and a 23-year-old man, were standing in front of an abandoned house when a dark colored vehicle approached them with its lights off around 11:00 p.m. Friday.

That’s when, police say, shots rang out and struck the group of teens.

When deputies arrived, they found all four victims had been shot, with the 19-year-old suffering the most critical injury.

Police attempted CPR and transported the female victim in a patrol car to McLaren Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Pontiac police identified the victim as 19-year-old Aniya Edwards, adding she was visiting from Memphis, Tennessee.

The surviving victims told police there were approximately four individuals in the car that drove by, and that the suspects were wearing masks.

Police recovered multiple semi-automatic shell casings from the scene.

A cash reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the person(s) responsible. Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call Pontiac police Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
