Struggle with 72-year-old woman lands officer in hospital

Woman assaulted store employee and 90-year-old husband before arrest


Police say a 72-year-old woman was arrested after assaulting three people, including an Oakland County police officer.

On Thursday, deputies responded to a call at a business located in the 1900 block of Star Batt Drive about a woman who was assaulting her 90-year-old husband and a store employee.

After confirming that the woman did assault the two victims, she was placed under arrest.

As the deputy attempted to place handcuffs on the woman,police say that she began resisting.

During the struggle with the officer, the woman and the deputy fell on the floor with the deputy landing on his shoulder.

Detroit police say the deputy began experiencing pain in his shoulder and was taken to St. John’s Hospital for treatment.

He was later released.

The woman was arrested for domestic assault and resisting and obstructing a police officer causing injury.
