SUV with 5 passengers crashes into Waterford home; alcohol may be factor

WATERFORD, Mich. – Members of a Waterford family are shaken after they say a car full of people slammed into their living room around 3 a.m. Sunday.

Phil Hayes said he was watching TV in his home when the driver of a Ford Edge slammed into his home, but not before hitting his neighbor’s garage.

Hayes initially thought the driver hit a tree, but when he went to investigate, he saw the driver of the car standing in his garage.

When Hayes approached the driver, the driver told Hayes that “everything was OK,” but Hayes told the driver he disagreed.

Police said there were five people inside the SUV at the time of the crash and all passengers were taken to the hospital. Alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.

Hayes said he won’t be able to work from home any time soon adding that his children somehow slept through the commotion.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
