2 suspects arrested, 1 still at large

DETROIT – Two Detroit residents were arrested Thursday morning after trying to break in to Peter's Gun Range in the 2800 block of Gratiot Avenue in Roseville, police said.

Police said three individuals hooked a tow strap to the security bars at 5:30 a.m. Thursday and used a red 2006 Dodge pickup truck to try to pull the bars from the door.

The three would-be thieves ran east from the store, and police followed their footprints for nearly two hours and more than 3 miles.

Police said the pursuit led to the arrest of two suspects at a home near Greater Mack Avenue and 12 Mile Road in St. Clair Shores. They were taken into custody without incident. Roseville police said the owners of the home were not involved in the incident.

The individuals in custody are 17 and 19 years old.

Police are still searching for the third individual.

There were no weapons involved in the incident, and no injuries. Nothing was taken from the store, but the front door was damaged, police said.

The pickup truck is registered to an owner out of Detroit and is not reported stolen. Police are trying to contact the registered owner.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident.

The suspects arrested Thursday are expected to be arraigned Friday.
