3 men charged in fatal shooting of Javon Perry at Detroit gas station

Derrick Everson Jr., Kyrell Alonzo charged with first degree murder

DETROIT – Two men accused in the slaying of a 22-year-old man at a Detroit gas station were arraigned Monday, according to Wayne County officials.

Derrick Everson Jr., 22, and Kyrell Alonzo, 23, are charged with the death of Javon Perry, who was fatally shot Jan. 5 while pumping gas at a Marathon gas station on Detroit's east side.

Everson and Kyrell approached Perry and began arguing with him, and Everson produced a hand gun, authorites said.

Authorities said Everson shot Perry as he tried to flee from Alonzo, who was chasing him.

Everson is charged with first-degree murder, carrying a concealed weapon and  felony firearm while Alonzo is  charged with first-degree murder and felony firearm.

A third man,  Joseph Lucas, 26,  has also charged in connection with Perry's death. He is accused of driving Everson and Alonzo away from the scene.  Lucas was charged with first-degree murder and felony firearm. 

The judge ordered Lucas to be held at the Wayne County Jail.
