UPDATE: 2 Detroit police officers shot on city's west side

DETROITUPDATE: Two Detroit police officers were shot late Sunday night.

The shooting happened on the 20500 block of Lesure on the city's west side.

Detroit Police tell Local 4 officers were called to the home for a breaking and entering when shots were fired from inside the home at officers. 

Authorities said one of the officers was shot in the face.  This officer has been with the department for approximately 2 years. 

Another officer was hit by shrapnel.  That officer has been the department for 18 months and is expected to be released from the hospital soon. 

Detroit Police say that three people have been detained from the home, including a woman, 19-year-old who is alleged to have fired the shotgun through the front door hitting the officers and a 14-year-old.  

According to police, the family claims that their house had been the target for several breaking and entering attempts over the weekend.
