DETROIT – A fight at what police described as an afterhours strip club erupted into an unspeakable act of violence as seven people were shot on Sunday morning on the city’s west side.
It happened just before 7:30am at the corner of Eaton and Prest streets when a 911 call came in. Initial reports said that four people were shot, before police made the grisly discovery when they arrived, finding three bodies in a vacant field next to the home.

“Our responding officers found a scene where it was three individuals suffering from fatal wounds,” Detroit Police Chief Todd Bettison said. “Also, at the hospital, we have four individuals that were transported private conveyance, and they’re suffering from non-life-threatening injuries.”
Bettison, flanked by mayor Mary Sheffield and City Council President James Tate, said that the home, which acted as an afterhours spot, had been known to police and had been the target of a previous investigation.
“Since the beginning of this year, we have had seven calls for service to this address,” Bettison said. “I will let you know also that this address is not new to the Detroit Police Department.”
The victims in the shooting are five men and two women. The deceased are three men in their 30s, none of whom were identified.
“I will work with the chief to do everything that we can to continue to crack down on illegal after-hour operations, whether there are home resident businesses that are operating these or businesses throughout the city of Detroit,” Sheffield said. “To ensure that this is not happening in our communities and in our neighborhoods.”
