1 person killed in shooting at Michigan flooring business in Battle Creek

Police search for shooter


BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – One person was shot to death Friday morning at a flooring business in Battle Creek, Mich. 

WOODTV reports a man in his 60s who worked at Battle Creek Tile & Mosaic Co. was shot about 10:30 a.m. Police are searching for a shooter. 


Police said the shooter has not been caught, but officers believe this is an isolated incident. Officers said this is not an active shooter situation and no one is believed to be in danger.

Superintendent Kim Carter tells 24 Hour News 8 that all schools near the shooting scene are on lock down, including Battle Creek Central High School.

The suspect is described as a white male who is approximately 5 feet and 6 inches tall.  He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a blue hoodie, according to police.

The business is located in the 1300 block of Michigan Avenue in Battle Creek.
