DETROIT – An 8-year-old boy was mauled Tuesday by his family's dogs at a home in the 4000 block of Bewick Street on Detroit's east side.
Police said around 5 p.m. Tuesday, three children, ages 6, 8 and 9, were left home alone with the dogs while their mother went to pick up another child from daycare.

Police said when the mother returned home, she found the 8-year-old boy had been attacked by the dogs.
The child was taken to a nearby hospital by medical officials. His condition was not disclosed.
The mother is being held on child neglect charges, police said.
Police did not reveal the breed of the dogs.
