Madonna's childhood home hits market in Rochester Hills

Current owner bought home in 2012 for just over $90,000

ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. – The current owners didn’t know they were living in the former castle of pop queen Madonna, only that it was a good deal when they bought it.

"We had no idea when we made the offer that she had lived here," Erika Juhl said.

Juhl bought 2036 Oklahoma Avenue in 2012 for just over $90,000. Years before, fire had destroyed it and it was at the borderline of ruin.

After an extensive renovation, it looked completely different inside. Madonna herself, who lived there from age 12 to 18 with her seven siblings, wouldn’t even recognize it, although Juhl believes Madge has stopped by a time or two to take a peek.

"She was in Michigan for a concert and getting her daughter to U of M, both times a big black SUV pulled up and sat there looking at the house, so we assume it was her," she said.

Juhl said a ton of people drive by all the time. Realtor Robert Kabbani is hoping that added curiosity will help with the sale.

"A lot of people are excited about it," he said. "We have high expectations for this house."

For just over $479,000, this five-bedroom, three-bathroom house could be your playground.

There is an open house 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday. Here is a link to the listing.
