NOVI, Mich. – Nearly 40 kilograms of heroin were seized Monday morning during a raid at a condo in Novi.
The DEA and Oakland County Narcotics Team executed a search warrant about 9:30 a.m. Monday at a condo in the 42000 block of Joyce Lane, which is just west of Meadowbrook Road and south of 13 Mile Road.
"Officers loudly announced their presence, with no response," the criminal complaint reads. "Officers gained entry by utilizing a key provided by the leasing office of the condominium complex where the address was located. All officers in the entry team were clearly marked with police insignia."
Upon entering the resident, agents along with a K9 officer found eight brick-shaped objects in plain view which were believed to be 11 kilograms of heroin. However, investigators found more as they searched the home. They found another 27.5 kilograms of heroin in a bedroom closet.
"In the bedroom closet agents discovered more brick-shaped objects in plain view, that through training and experience appeared to be kilograms of narcotics," the criminal complaint reads. "Also, located in the closet, next to several kilograms was a still undetermined amount of bulk United States currency."
