9-year-old girl bit by pit bull-lab mix while riding bicycle in Sterling Heights

Girl bit in thigh while backing away from dog

STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. – A 9-year-old girl was bit by a dog Thursday while riding her bicycle in Sterling Heights.

The girl's mother said her daughter was riding a bicycle at 9:28 p.m. Thursday in the 35000 block of Townley Drive near 15 Mile and Van Dyke roads.

The girl rode near a neighbor who was walking her pit bull-Labrador mix, and the dog's owner asked the girl to back away.

As the girl was backing away, the dog bit her on the thigh, Sterling Heights police said.

Police didn't say whether there would be any legal action as a result of the attack.

The severity of the girl's injuries was not disclosed.
