Felon charged with possession of handgun during shooting of music video in Detroit

DETROIT – A 26-year-old man was charged after officers found the felon in possession of a handgun during the shooting of a music video in Detroit.

Martaze Davis, 26, is charged with felon in possession of a firearm.

According to court records, Davis was shooting a music video Tuesday night in front of a home in the 11900 block of Wayburn Street when officers with the Detroit Police Department saw Davis discard a handgun in the passenger door of a 2015 silver Mercedes-Benz.

The weapon had an extended magazine.

Davis does not have a CPL and has a felony conviction for armed robbery from December of 2007.

A bag of suspected marijuana was found in the vehicle’s center console and another bag was found in Davis’ pocket, according to court records.
