ROMULUS, Mich. – The Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW) has installed a new parking guidance system at the Edward H. McNamara Terminal Parking Garage.
The $25 million project fitted the system throughout parking structures at the McNamara and Warren Cleage Evans terminals.
The guidance system will use a color-coded light to help guests identify parking availability. A green light indicates an open space, red an occupied spot and blue available handicapped parking.
The guidance aims to support an efficient parking process while also adding an extra layer of security.
“This investment brings real-time visibility down to the individual space, giving our customers the information they need to make decisions quickly and confidently,” said Wayne County Airport Authority CEO Chad Newton.
The airport will also have the Park Assist app for live parking availability or locating vehicles.
DTW offers more than 16,000 spots in its parking garages.
Installation of the parking guidance system for the Big Blue Deck has begun and is expected to go live later in 2026.
