School bus crashes into home on Detroit's west side

DETROIT – A school bus crashed into a home Friday night on Detroit's west side.

Police said the driver was the only person on the bus when it slammed into a house at Mettetal and Chalfonte streets at 7:15 p.m. No one was in the home, police said.

The 56-year-old woman driving had a medical condition and blacked out, police said.

The homeowner, Blaric Lovelace, returned home from coaching a high school football game to the damage. He said the bus crashed into his TV room, where he would have been sitting if he weren't coaching that night.

The driver is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
