Man wanted for killing 2 people in Detroit found dead in Kentucky motel

2 people fatally shot at home on Detroit's west side

DETROIT – A man wanted for the fatal shooting of two people on Detroit's west side was found dead Monday in a motel room in Kentucky, police said.

The shooting happened in the 4000 block of Carter Street.

A third person was injured when she jumped from a second story window while trying to escape. She is recovering, officials said.

Another woman was found hiding in a closet.

Detroit police said the victims, a man and a woman, were found dead inside the home. Police are searching for the woman's ex-boyfriend.

Police confirmed that the suspected shooter was found dead in a Super 8 motel room in Richmond, Kentucky.

Police and state troopers evacuated the second floor of the motel after the man's vehicle was spotted in the parking lot. Shortly after speaking with the man around 3:30 p.m., a single gunshot was heard coming from inside the room, police said.

"We just asked that he come outside, come downstairs," an officer said. "Shortly thereafter, we heard a single gunshot from inside."

Officers entered the room and found the man had fatally shot himself.
