Fight over wall funding led to government shutdown

WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump announced an immigration plan Saturday.

The president's plan includes extended protections for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals recipients in exchange for a steel barrier between the United States and Mexico.

A fight over funding for a wall at the southern border has led to the longest governemnt shutdown in history. If the president's plan is approved next week, he said the federal government would immediately reopen.
