Mother, 4-year-old daughter killed in Detroit apartment fire; boy transported to hospital

DETROIT – A 4-year-old girl and her mother are dead after a fire at an apartment complex in Detroit.

The fire broke out Tuesday evening in the 9500 block of Brace Street. The 4-year-old girl and her mother, believed to be in her 40s, were pronounced dead.

The woman's 7-year-old son and her husband were transported to the hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation. Their conditions are not known at this time.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
