DETROIT – Detroit police are searching for two men after a resident was shot in the face and carjacked at a gas station on the city’s west side, according to authorities.

Police said a 50-year-old man was at the Clark gas station in the 11300 block of Dexter Avenue around 1:30 a.m. Friday when he was approached by two men.

The man was walking from the gas station store to his Izuzu Trooper SUV when one of the men asked him for money, officials said.

When the man reached into his pocket, one of the men pulled out a handgun and pointed it at him, demanding his car keys, according to police.

The man gave them his keys and backed away from the SUV, police said. The armed suspect fired a shot, hitting the man in the face, authorities said.

Police said the men fled the scene in the SUV.

Both men were dressed in all black clothing, officials said. They had been seen in the area of the gas station during the night and loitering around the area days prior, according to authorities.

Anyone who recognizes the men in the photo above is asked to call Detroit police at 313-596-2555 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP to remain anonymous.
